founded in 1914 by Joseph Matrot (born 1881), a grandson of winemakers, and his wife Marguerite Amoignon, who owned vines in Meursault. Over a century later, the estate is managed by their descendants, Adèle and Elsa Matrot, who took over in 2016. The Matrot sisters have upheld and approved their organic practices that have been in place since 2000. It’s safe to say the family-run domaine will be in good hands for many years to come. Their Meursault-Charmes bottlings are always a consistent performance showcasing a canny mix of power, elegance, and razor-sharp minerality. The family owns four plots with Les Charmes 1er Cru of which 70% is within the Charmes-Dessus parcel. Always well-balanced and generous out of the gate with ample drive and purity to impress any Burgundy aficionado. The 2016 has now fleshing out nicely in which the stone fruit and apple notes
meld harmoniously with the oak. Heady aromas of honey, vanilla, and alpine flowers rise from the glass.
