Durante Family, Prosecco “Spago”

Durante is as good as it gets for 100% organic, hand-farming Prosecco. There are flashier, trendier, and more well-known names, but the fastidiousness of the organic viticulture and the purity of the wines are second to none. Father Ivano Durante and his son, Michele, personally attend to all the grape growing and winemaking on their 15-hectare parcel at the foot of the Dolomites.  While some of the family’s other wines are wilder, this effort is a very “correct” style that will appeal to traditional prosecco drinkers: green apple, fresh-picked grapes, white flowers, and mountain breeze abound. Amazingly, there are some lines of refinement for this Prosecco that will appeal to serious wine drinkers. You don’t have to ponder this one. This is as easy as a summer’s breeze. Cheers!

Northwestern Italy

Piedmont

Italy’s Piedmont region is really a wine “nation”unto itself, producing world-class renditions of every type of wine imaginable: red, white, sparkling, sweet...you name it! However, many wine lovers fixate on the region’s most famous appellations—Barolo and Barbaresco—and the inimitable native red that powers these wines:Nebbiolo.

Tuscany

Chianti

The area known as “Chianti” covers a major chunk of Central Tuscany, from Pisa to Florence to Siena to Arezzo—and beyond. Any wine with “Chianti” in its name is going to contain somewhere between 70% to 100% Sangiovese, and there are eight geographically specific sub-regions under the broader Chianti umbrella.
