2023 Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt Bockstein Riesling GG Saar

Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt, one of Germany's oldest wine estates dating to 1349, farms roughly 46 hectares across the Mosel, Saar, and Ruwer under managing director Dr. Karsten Weyand and cellar master David Nicolay.

Bockstein is a celebrated Grosse Lage vineyard on Devonian slate above the village of Ockfen on the Saar, long known for producing some of the region's most powerful and structured dry Rieslings. The 2023 Grosses Gewächs is fully dry, built on the site's characteristic slate-driven minerality and tension.

Why You'll Love It

  • A dry Grosses Gewächs from Bockstein, one of the Saar's most powerful Grosse Lage sites.
  • Citrus and orchard fruit over a wet-slate, mineral core.
  • High acid and real structure, built for the long haul.
  • A long, saline, precise finish.
  • From an estate with over 675 years of winegrowing history.
  • A serious dry Riesling for the cellar as much as the table.

How To Serve It

  • Serve chilled at 48-52°F.
  • No decanting necessary.
  • Pour into a tall, tapered Riesling glass.
  • Pair with pan-seared diver scallops in brown butter with Meyer lemon and toasted hazelnuts, or grilled turbot with a saffron-brown butter sauce.
