2023 Poderi Aldo Conterno, Barbera d'Alba "Conca Tre Pile"
Poderi Aldo Conterno of Monforte d'Alba is one of the defining estates of Piedmont, and its holdings in Bussia rank among the most prized vineyard land in the Langhe. "Conca Tre Pile" is a historic estate vineyard in Bussia, where 45- to 50-year-old Barbera vines thrive on steep, amphitheater-like slopes of calcareous clay and marl. The Conterno family treats this high-acid variety with the utmost care, practicing low yields to achieve maximum concentration and phenolic maturity.
The 2023 vintage underwent controlled fermentation followed by 12 months of maturation in 100% new French oak barriques. This signature treatment tames Barbera's piercing natural acidity while wrapping its intense dark cherry fruit in a velvety, structural blanket of sweet wood spice, mocha, and graphite.
Why You'll Love It
