2021 Lindes de Remelluri, Rioja Viñedos de San Vicente de La Sonsierra
The "Lindes de Remelluri" project was established by Telmo Rodríguez to shine a light on the traditional grape growers in the villages bordering (lindes) the historic Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri estate. San Vicente de la Sonsierra is one of Rioja Alta’s most celebrated crus, sitting on dramatic limestone terraces tucked between the Sierra de Cantabria and the Ebro River. The village's south-facing, chalky clay-limestone soils and Atlantic-influenced mesoclimate yield Tempranillo with extraordinary tension, freshness, and structural refinement.
From the benchmark 2021 vintage—widely regarded as one of modern Rioja's finest, most classical years—this wine was hand-harvested from historic, organically farmed bush vines. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and neutral oak vats, it matured for 12 to 14 months in seasoned French oak barriques and large wooden casks. Avoiding the heavy vanilla and dill extraction of industrial Rioja, it delivers pure site transparency: ripe wild blackberries, dark red cherries, crushed limestone, cigar box, wild rosemary, and balsamic undertones, bound by firm, chalky tannins and vibrant natural acidity.
