2024 Domaine Morey-Coffinet, Bourgogne Rouge

While Chassagne is famed for its whites, true Burgundy insiders know that the Morey family line has always turned out magnificent, dark-fruited Pinot Noir. Sourced from biodynamically farmed vineyards along the base of the Chassagne slope, Thibault Morey approaches his Bourgogne Rouge with the same obsessive detail as his Premier Crus, eschewing heavy sulfur or oak in favor of vibrant, fruit-forward purity.

Grown in deeper, iron-rich clay soils over a limestone base, these 35-year-old vines deliver a red Burgundy that punches far above its regional humble label. In the glass, it radiates a luminous ruby hue, brimming with crunchy wild strawberries, black cherries, and dried violet petals. The palate is succulent and supple, framed by fine-grained, featherlight tannins and an energetic, mouthwatering finish that makes waiting to open it nearly impossible.
