Founded in 1862, C. da Silva is one of the Douro's most historic boutique Port houses, celebrated worldwide under its "Dalva" marque and above all for its single-harvest Colheitas. Colheita Ports are single-vintage Tawny Ports matured exclusively in seasoned 550-liter oak pipes (pipas) for a minimum of seven years, and often for multiple decades, before bottling. Unlike Vintage Ports, which mature reductively in glass and should be enjoyed soon after opening, Colheitas undergo slow micro-oxidative maturation in wood. As water evaporates and wood interaction deepens over the decades, the wine transforms into a glowing amber elixir of dried fruits, nuts, wood spice, and rancio.
The 1967 is a legendary Colheita with more than half a century of barrel aging behind it. Extremely concentrated, with an olive-green rim that signals its great age, it bursts with dried dates, walnut husk, balsamic, exotic incense, burnt orange zest, and toasted hazelnuts, balanced by vibrant natural acidity that cuts through its rich, glycerol-laden density.
