MV Louis Picamelot Crémant de Bourgogne Brut “Les Terroirs”

Tucked away in the historic village of Rully, Maison Louis Picamelot stands as one of Burgundy’s most celebrated artisan sparklers. Since 1926, the estate has championed traditional-method winemaking, aging their bottles deep within rock-hewn cellars dug nearly 500 feet into the Côte Chalonnaise bedrock. Their multi-vintage Brut “Les Terroirs” draws from a patchwork of prime hillside parcels across the Côte Chalonnaise, Côte de Beaune, and Côte de Nuits, uniting Pinot Noir,Chardonnay, and a splash of Aligoté for an authentic slice of Burgundian terroir at an everyday price.

The result is a sparkling wine of striking elegance and fine-beaded precision. In the glass, it pours a pale lemon-gold, opening with aromas of crisp green apple, white peach, crushed chalk, and warm brioche. On the palate, vibrant citrus lift and orchard fruit are balanced by a fine, creamy mousse and savory, toasted-almond complexity gained from extended bottle aging sur lie. Finishing bone-dry, taut, and refreshing, it easily rivals entry-level Champagne while remaining distinctly Burgundian.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Champagne Craft at Half the Price: Made strictly via the traditional method and aged 18 to 24 months on the lees in underground cellars for deep, yeasty complexity.

  • True Burgundian Pedigree: Blends classic Burgundy cépages—Pinot Noir for breadth and red-berry structure, Chardonnay for finesse, and Aligoté for lip-smacking floral snap.

  • Ultimate Food Versatility: Crisp natural acidity and a dry dosage make it just as thrilling with casual bar snacks as it is with fresh shellfish or charcuterie.

How to Serve It

  • Temperature: Serve well-chilled at 45°F–48°F (7°C–9°C) to keep the bubble energetic and focused.

  • Glassware: Pour into a tulip glass or white wine stem rather than a narrow flute, giving the brioche and floral aromatics room to blossom.

  • Food Pairings: Outstanding with gougères, fried calamari, salmon rillettes, fresh oysters, or triple-crème cheeses like Delice de Bourgogne.
