Described by its maker, John Lockwood, as “liquid sunshine,” this aptly named wine is a crisp, citrusy, new-generation take on California Chardonnay: If you prefer buttery and oaky, look elsewhere! Since founding Enfield Wine Co. in 2010, John Lockwood has enjoyed considerable critical acclaim, including being named a “Winemaker to Watch” by the San Francisco Chronicle, and this wine reflect his love of viticulture first and foremost: It is a blend of four unique vineyard sites across diverse Northern Californian appellations, drawing minerality and acidity from vines planted in “white mineral soils” (i.e. limestone). Aged in used barrels and driven by minerality and freshness, with notes of lemon balm, yellow apple, acacia honey, white flowers, and fresh cream. Great energy!
