2025 Philipp Bründlmayer, Rosé "Vom Löss", Kremstal

Philipp Bründlmayer represents a newer generation of winemakers in Austria's Kremstal region. Based in the village of Grunddorf, the estate farms steep terraced vineyards along the Danube using sustainable practices, with a focus on letting the region's loess soils express themselves in the finished wines.

"Vom Löss" (meaning "from the loess") is a dry rosé blending Zweigelt and Pinot Noir grown in deep, wind-deposited loess along the Danube Valley. The loess gives the wine a rounder, more textured mid-palate than is typical for the region, which helps balance out Kremstal's characteristically brisk, cool-climate acidity. The combination results in a rosé that's both structured and easy to drink.

Why You'll Love It

  • Combines Zweigelt's crunchy red berry fruit with the finer-grained texture of Pinot Noir.
  • Loess soils lend a soft, mineral texture that plays off the wine's natural acidity.
  • Aromas of wild strawberry, pink grapefruit, red apple skin, and white flowers.
  • Dry, food-friendly, and versatile enough for warm-weather sipping or the dinner table.

How To Serve It

  • Serve chilled, between 46°F and 50°F.
  • No decanting required. Pour it straight from the bottle.
  • All-purpose stems focus the delicate red berry aromatics.
  • Pairs well with summer salads, Wiener schnitzel, roasted chicken, or a charcuterie board.
