Domaine Weinbach in Kaysersberg is one of the historic great houses of Alsace, run by the Faller family from the walled Clos des Capucins at the foot of the Schlossberg hill. The estate is certified organic and biodynamic, and its wines are prized for precision, purity, and remarkable longevity. Schlossberg was the first vineyard in Alsace to be recognized as a Grand Cru, in 1975, and its steep, south-facing terraces of decomposed granite climb to around 400 meters.

The thin, sandy, quartz-rich granite soils push the vines' roots deep into the bedrock, which gives Schlossberg Riesling its famous cut and mineral tension. The 2024 was hand-picked on the terraces and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in large old oak foudres, the traditional Alsace vessel, so the site speaks without any oak flavor getting in the way. The result is a dry, crystalline Riesling with real depth behind its energy.
