Domaine Jean Esprit represents the modern revival of a historic family estate located in Pont-de-l'Isère, in the southern sector of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation. While the Esprit family has farmed vines in the Northern Rhône for generations, Jean Esprit took over in 2017 to bottle wines under the family name for the first time. Practicing organic farming across their granite and pebble-rich alluvial soils, Jean focuses on low-intervention techniques, utilizing native yeast fermentations, minimal sulfur usage, and neutral vessel aging to craft vibrant, pure expressions of Northern Rhône Syrah.
This wine is sourced from organically farmed vines rooted in deep alluvial gravel, rolled stones (galets), and clay-granite subsoils. Hand-harvested with careful sorting, the 2024 fruit underwent a gentle, temperature-controlled fermentation in concrete vats before aging in a combination of concrete tanks and neutral French oak demi-muids to preserve freshness. The 2024 vintage highlights Jean Esprit's hallmark style: highly aromatic, crunchy dark fruit, black pepper spice, and fine, silky tannins.
