Domaine Alain Gautheron is a historic estate located in Fleys, in the heart of Chablis, where the Gautheron family has grown grapes for over five generations. The estate is dedicated to preserving the classic Chablis style: crisp, mineral-driven Chardonnay shaped by ancient Kimmeridgian limestone soils packed with fossilized prehistoric oyster shells (Exogyra virgula).
The 2024 "Vieilles Vignes" (Old Vines) is sourced from estate parcels with vines averaging 45 to 65 years of age, which yield tiny berries with lower yields and higher natural concentration. Aged primarily in stainless steel tanks with a small portion (approx. 10-15%) rested in neutral oak barrels on fine lees, the 2024 vintage balances silky mid-palate weight with electric Kimmeridgian acidity, displaying green apple, lemon zest, white flowers, and crushed chalk.
