2024 Castel de Fornos, Albariño, Rías Baixas, Galicia, Spain

Castel de Fornos is produced by Bodegas Chaves, one of the oldest family-owned wineries in the Salnés Valley, the coolest and most coastal subregion of Rías Baixas. Sitting just miles from the Atlantic, the estate's vineyards catch steady maritime breezes that preserve bracing acidity and lend a distinctive saline mineral edge to the fruit.

The 2024 vintage is fermented entirely in stainless steel to protect its purity, delivering a crisp, high-toned white built on citrus, green apple, and white peach over a base of granitic tension.

Why You'll Love It

  • A pure expression of the Atlantic coastline, with razor-sharp acidity and a distinct saline edge.
  • Fermented exclusively in stainless steel to preserve freshness and stone fruit aromatics.
  • High-toned citrus, wet stone, and sea spray character make it a fantastic aperitif pour.
  • Zero oak influence lets the granite and sandy alluvial soils speak clearly through the glass.

How To Serve It

  • Serve well-chilled, between 46°F and 50°F, to highlight its brisk acidity.
  • No decanting is needed; this wine is best opened and poured right away.
  • All-purpose stems channel the bright orchard fruit and mineral notes nicely.
  • It's an excellent partner for chilled oysters on the half shell, ceviche, or grilled sardines.
