Domaine Font de Courtedune is a small, family-owned boutique producer run by siblings Caroline and Frédéric Charon. Situated in the northern sector of Châteauneuf-du-Pape near Courthézon, the estate is known for extremely old vines, many over 100 years old, planted in pure quartz sand, the same rare soil type made famous by Château Rayas. Sand soils yield Grenache of incredible aromatic delicacy, silkiness, and pale color, defying the typical perception of heavy, dark Southern Rhône reds.

The 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is dominated by 85% old-vine Grenache. Unusually for the appellation, Font de Courtedune uses zero wood in the cellar, aging the wine exclusively in subterranean concrete vats to preserve the pristine red fruit and floral freshness of the sandy terroir. The 2023 vintage is lush yet remarkably silky, offering wild raspberries, kirsch, lavender, dried garrigue herbs, and a smooth, velvety finish.
