2022 Linaje De Pago, "Rojo Carmin", Tenerife

Linaje del Pago, was founded in 2017 in El Sauzal with the mission of preserving the island’s native varieties and giving them a clean, modern expression. Linaje del Pago's “Rojo Carmín” is the perfect example of how Tenerife can make reds that are both expressive and refined. Their 2022 vintage is 100% Listán Negro, the island’s signature red grape, hailing from the Tacoronte-Acentejo DO on Tenerife’s north side where Atlantic breezes, volcanic soils, and high elevation creates the perfect terroir for Listán Negro to thrive.

What makes this wine so compelling is the balance between juicy fruit and its savory structure. Currant and ripe red-fruit aromas, black pepper, elegant, intense and balanced with a persistent finish. Listán Negro is naturally versatile, often manifesting in wines with spice, red berries, and soft tannins, or they can be made in a style that's either crunchy and gluggable or more serious and textured. The 2022  Rojo Carmín sits nicely in that middle ground: approachable, aromatic, and loads of local character.

Why You'll Love It

  • It offers a true taste of Tenerife, with volcanic-island freshness and Atlantic energy shaped by the north-side Tacoronte-Acentejo region.

  • The wine is made from Listán Negro, a native grape that gives distinctive red fruit, spice, and savory lift.

  • It’s an elegant, medium-bodied red that feels easy to enjoy but still has enough character to make you stop and pay attention.

How To Serve It

  • Serve it lightly chilled, around 57–61°F, to emphasize freshness and keep the fruit lively; Listán Negro often shows best with a gentle chill.

  • Serve in an all purpose red wine glass to let the peppery and red-fruited aromas open up.

  • Extremely versatile and will pair wonderfully with grilled fish, roast chicken, cured meats, cheeses, or papas arrugada, a classic Canary Island treat
