2022 Fratelli Alessandria, Barolo "San Lorenzo di Verduno"

The "San Lorenzo" single vineyard sits in Verduno, positioned just below the famous Monvigliero hill. Featuring ancient blue marl soils (Marne di Sant'Agata Fossili), San Lorenzo combines the delicate floral lift typical of Verduno with slightly more structural weight, darker berry focus, and chalky mineral grip than its neighboring sites.

The 2022 release spent 30 months in large neutral Slavonian oak casks, preserving its pure single-vineyard identity. The wine opens with vibrant notes of red sour cherry, pomegranates, dried herbs, orange rind, and crushed chalk. The palate is streamlined, elegant, and precise, framed by tightly coiled tannins and bright natural acidity.

Why You'll Love It

  • Single-vineyard expression balancing Verduno's floral perfume with chalky structural depth.
  • Highly focused and mineral-driven with excellent mid-palate tension.
  • Perfumed with sour cherry, dried rose petals, thyme, and wet limestone.

How To Serve It

  • Serve at cool room temperature between 60°F and 63°F.
  • Decant for 1.5 hours to let the mineral core and Nebbiolo tannins open up.
  • Pour into burgundy stems to concentrate its high-toned floral aromatics.
  • Pair with roasted lamb chops, truffle pasta, or game birds.
