2022 Fratelli Alessandria, Barolo "Monvigliero"

Monvigliero is universally recognized as the Grand Cru of Verduno and one of the most iconic single-vineyard sites in the entire Barolo zone. Forming a south-facing natural amphitheater with high-altitude chalky white soils, Monvigliero produces Barolos of legendary finesse, silky tannic integration, and an unmistakable aromatic signature of white pepper and dried flowers.

Fratelli Alessandria's 2022 "Monvigliero" is a tour de force. Naturally farmed from old vines, the fruit underwent traditional long maceration and spent 30 months resting in large Slavonian oak casks. The result is an ethereal, complex wine bursting with wild strawberry, white pepper, dried roses, eucalyptus, and crushed limestone. Its tannins are exceptionally refined, delivering power through weightless elegance.

Why You'll Love It

  • Sourced from Monvigliero, widely considered the premier cru site of Verduno.
  • Famous for its unique, intoxicating aromatics of white pepper, roses, and red berries.
  • Delivers profound structural length and depth without any heavy, aggressive tannic weight.

How To Serve It

  • Serve at cool room temperature between 60°F and 63°F.
  • We recommend a 1.5-hour decant to allow its complex bouquet to fully blossom.
  • Pour into burgundy stems to give its expansive perfume plenty of surface area.
  • Pair with tajarin pasta with fresh white truffles, slow-braised veal, or roasted quail.
