Where It Grows:
Nolan Ranch, tucked into Alisos Canyon AVA, is a Grenache paradise in Santa Barbara County, and it’s the source of the fruit for this wine. With over 100 acres of varied terrain, it’s perfectly positioned to harness Alisos’ balance of cool Pacific breezes and inland warmth. The result? Grenache that’s vibrant, structured, and brimming with the AVA’s signature aromatic intensity and bold character.
How It's Made:
This Grenache was crafted with care: 100% de-stemmed, fermented in open-top tanks, and punched down by hand for gentle extraction. It underwent full malolactic fermentation and aged gracefully in neutral Hungarian oak. Bottled unfined and lightly filtered, it balances 14.5% alcohol with vibrant acidity, showcasing purity and a refined texture.
What It Tastes Like:
This refreshingly balanced California Grenache dazzles with vibrant acidity, integrated alcohol, and refined texture. Aromas of raspberry, violet, white pepper, and a savory hint of roasted duck are followed on the palate, where it bursts with strawberry cream, cranberry, and juicy red berries. Fresh, crunchy, and endlessly expressive, it’s a lively sip with serious depth.
Who Made It:
Established in 2012, Lumen Wines is helmed by winemaker Lane Tanner and viticulturist Will Henry, who sought to build a wine brand that celebrated the cooler microclimates of Santa Barbara County. Across the board, they source from sustainably farmed vineyards, letting each site and variety shine. They favor early picks that celebrate purity in the glass without too much extraction.
