2021 Lemelson Vineyards, Pinot Noir "Chestnut Hill Vineyard", Chehalem Mountains

Lemelson Vineyards was established in 1997 by Eric Lemelson, dedicated to organic farming and gravity-flow winemaking across the Willamette Valley. Chestnut Hill Vineyard is one of their coolest estate sites, perched at high elevation (750 to 1,000 feet) in the Chehalem Mountains AVA on a mixture of volcanic Jory red clay and wind-blown Laurelwood loess soil over basalt.

Hand-harvested and gravity-fed into open vats for native yeast fermentation, the 2021 Chestnut Hill Pinot Noir aged for 15 months in French oak barrels (approx. 30% new). The high elevation preserves bright natural acidity, yielding a structured, high-toned Pinot Noir: dark red cherries, wild raspberries, dried rose petals, damp forest floor, and baking spices, held together by fine-grained tannins.

Why You'll Love It

  • High-elevation single-vineyard Pinot Noir from an organically farmed estate site in the Chehalem Mountains.
  • Gravity-flow winemaking preserves pure red fruit, silken texture, and delicate aromatics.
  • Complex interplay of volcanic red clay earth, dried floral scents, and bright cherry fruit.

How To Serve It

  • Serve at cool room temperature between 58°F and 62°F.
  • Decant for 30 minutes to allow the forest floor and red fruit aromatics to open up.
  • Pour into Burgundy stems to gather its high-toned perfume.
  • Pair with plank-roasted wild salmon, roasted duck, pork tenderloin, or mushroom risotto.
