2020 Lamé Delisle Boucard, Bourgueil "Brunetieres"

Founded by Pierre Guyot in 1869, Domaine Lamé Delisle Boucard was later passed to his son-in-law, Jules Lamé. Jules capitalized on the phylloxera crisis to plant grafted vines early in the region and gradually expanded the vineyards. After World War II, Jules' son Lucien and his wife Yvonne decided to bottle under their own label rather than selling the fruit to négociants. Today, Philippe Boucard (5th generation) manages the estate with his family. Under his leadership, the estate converted its 46 hectares to organic viticulture, earning certification with the 2021 vintage.

Hailing from the lieu-dit of Brunetières on the south-facing slopes of the Loire in Ingrandes de Touraine, this wine benefits from a clay-limestone terroir. Fermentation takes place in conical wooden vats. The wine is then aged for 14 months, with a quarter in new barriques and three-quarters in foudres (large wooden casks).

The nose is classically Cabernet Franc with notes of red and black currant, unripe black plum, and cranberry along with wet violets, green peppercorn, grape stems, green tobacco, wet herbs, and crushed rocks. There is just a hint of new oak. The palate is medium-bodied, high in acid, and very dry, with earth-driven flavors that are identical to the nose, including black currant, black cherry, cranberry, wet violet, green peppercorn, green tobacco, grape stems, wet herbs, and crushed rocks.
