2020 Domaine Mosnier, Chablis AOC

Known for their meticulous care in both vineyard and cellar, Domaine Mosnier crafts a range of Chablis wines emphasizing quality, tradition, and expressive character. Their 2020 Domaine Mosnier Chablis is a masterclass in elegance and terroir-driven character.

Where It’s Grown:

Chablis, nestled in northern Burgundy, is one of France’s most iconic wine regions. It’s a haven for Chardonnay, where grapevines thrive in the region’s cool climate and ancient soils. Chablis is defined by its Kimmeridgian soil, a unique blend of limestone, clay, and fossilized marine organisms that date back millions of years. These soils are the secret behind the Domaine Mosnier’s hallmark minerality and flinty character. Their vineyards are located near the village of Beine, just a stone’s throw from the historic town of Chablis itself.

Who Made It:

Domaine Mosnier is a family legacy that dates back to 1893. For more than a century, the
estate has been crafting wines that capture the essence of Chablis. Today, Stéphanie Mosnier carries on this proud tradition as head winemaker. Stéphanie blends generations of knowledge with modern techniques to create wines that are authentic yet innovative. The estate spans nearly 19 hectares across various appellations, including Petit Chablis, Chablis, and Premier Cru vineyards. Stéphanie has also embraced sustainable practices, earning HVE 3 certification (High Environmental Value Level 3). This commitment to biodiversity and eco-friendly farming ensures that Domaine Mosnier’s wines honor not only their heritage but also the land they so proudly steward.

What It Tastes Like:

Aromas of flint, wet stone, ripe green apple, lemon zest, and delicate white flowers emanate from the glass along with an underlying hint of salinity. On the palate, the wine is crisp and focused, delivering layers of citrus, like lime and grapefruit, alongside a touch of ripe pineapple. its signature minerality takes center stage here: clean, precise, and invigorating, while a subtle saline edge that adds depth and complexity. The finish is long and refreshing, with wet stone and citrus zest that linger beautifully on your tongue. This wine isn’t just delicious; it’s versatile too! Pair with freshly shucked oysters for a classic match or enjoy it alongside grilled fish or creamy goat cheese for an unforgettable dining experience.
