Champagne Charlier & Fils is a historic grower house situated in Montigny-sous-Châtillon in the Vallée de la Marne. The estate is unique in Champagne for maintaining the rare tradition of vinifying and aging 100% of their base wines in large oak casks (foudres). As a member of the prestigious Club Trésors de Champagne, their "Special Club" release is subjected to rigorous blind tastings by fellow growers before approval.
The 2015 "Special Club" is a Meunier-influenced blend grounded in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Fermented in oak casks and aged on its fine lees in bottle for nearly eight years before disgorgement, the 2015 vintage displays a rich, vinous profile: baked yellow apples, mirabelle plum, toasted brioche, candied ginger, and subtle pastry cream, underscored by a fine mousse and a chalky line of acidity.
Why You'll Love It
Prestigious Club Trésors de Champagne ("Special Club") bottling, representing the apex of grower Champagne.
Rare 100% oak cask (foudre) base wine fermentation, lending exceptional texture and micro-oxygenated depth.
Nearly eight years of lees aging produces deep autolytic notes of brioche, hazelnut, and yellow orchard fruit.
How To Serve It
Serve slightly warmer than typical Champagne, between 48°F and 52°F, to let the vinous oak-aged layers bloom.
No decanting required; open and allow it to evolve naturally in the glass over 30 minutes.
Pour into all-purpose stems to capture its complex autolytic and oak-aged bouquet.
An exceptional partner for roasted poultry, seared scallops, lobster, or aged Comté cheese.
