2012 Champagne Guy Larmandier Cuvée Signé François - Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Zéro

Guy Larmandier is one of those Côte des Blancs growers who quietly sits at the center of everything that matters in Champagne. Based in the Grand Cru village of Cramant, the family has been farming Chardonnay here since the late 19th century, with holdings in Cramant, Chouilly, Oger, and Vertus that read like a roll call of great chalk. The wines are unapologetically classical: long-leased, low-dosage, and built around an almost old-school Côte des Blancs texture rather than simple “aperitif” charm. “Cuvée Signé François” is the family’s insider bottling—a Blanc de Blancs drawn from their oldest vines, named for François Larmandier as a sort of personal signature on what the estate does best.

The 2012 “Cuvée Signé François” taps into a vintage that growers still talk about in almost hushed tones: low yields, serious structure, and chiseled acidity wrapped around ripe, concentrated fruit. Old-vine Chardonnay from deeply chalky Grand Cru parcels gives the wine its core of energy and mineral drive, while the Brut Nature/Zero dosage elevates every detail—citrus oils, crushed shell, pastry, and a faint, noble oxidative whisper from extended lees aging. This isn’t meant to be “cute” Champagne; it’s a deeply vinous, terroir-first expression that feels closer to great white Burgundy with bubbles than to a generic glass of fizz.

Why you'll love it

  • Old-vine Grand Cru Chardonnay, zero dosage, and a serious vintage combine for a wine that’s both laser-precise and texturally deep.

  • Vibrant flavor profile of lemon curd, green apple, and toasted brioche over a long, chalky, saline finish.

  • An insider’s cuvée: grower-made, terroir-driven, and quietly world-class without the big-house markup.

How to serve it

  • Serve it cool but not fridge-cold (around 48–50°F) in a white wine or small Burgundy stem, not a narrow flute.

  • Give it a few slow turns in the glass or even a brief carafe if it’s just been popped—this has structure and wants a little air.

  • Put it next to oysters, caviar, tempura, or a simple roast chicken with pan jus, and let the chalk and zero dosage do the rest.
