Champagne Chapuy is a family-run estate rooted in the prestigious Grand Cru village of Oger, at the heart of the Côte des Blancs—a region revered for its pure, elegant Chardonnay. The Chapuy lineage in Oger goes back to the French Revolution, with the family originally serving as grape growers and the village's mayor among their ancestors. While the family’s vine-growing tradition is centuries old, it was only in 1952 that Serge Chapuy began selling Champagne under their own name, marking the official founding of the house. Today, the estate is managed by Elodie and Aurore Chapuy, who uphold both legacy and a commitment to sustainable viticulture, demonstrated by their High Environmental Value (HVE) certification, achieved through biodiversity promotion and the avoidance of herbicides.
The Chapuy estate spans 8 hectares, with the core 3 hectares situated in Oger’s chalk-rich soils. These ancient seabed soils, packed with fossilized sea life, bestow remarkable minerality and tension on the wines. The vineyards’ eastern exposure captures gentle sunlight, allowing Chardonnay grapes to ripen while preserving vivacious acidity—the hallmark of classic Côte des Blancs Blanc de Blancs. Vinification focuses on delicacy and freshness, with primary fermentation in stainless steel tanks and a practice of balancing wines that have and have not undergone malolactic fermentation. Extra Brut bottlings, like the Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs, are further defined by low dosage and extended aging, emphasizing clarity, minerality, and the pure translation of terroir.
The Chapuy Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut is the epitome of these philosophies: energetic, chiselled, and deeply expressive of its Oger provenance. Every step—from meticulous grape selection to lengthy lees aging—aims to capture the finesse, elegance, and salinity that are the signatures of top Côte des Blancs Chardonnay. This Champagne, with its generous reserve wine component and low-dosage finish, offers a tension-fueled freshness and a seamless, mineral-driven profile that has earned it critical acclaim and multiple international awards.
