2019 Michel Gay et Fils, Aloxe-Corton Vieilles Vignes

Sourced from muscular 50-year-old vines, this is textbook Aloxe-Corton at its absolute best—unabashedly deep, dark, and powerful. Winemaker Sébastien Gay uses organic farming and a remarkably light touch in the cellar to let this ancient parcel flex its muscles, delivering jaw-dropping Burgundian complexity without hiding behind a wall of heavy new oak.

The 2019 vintage is an absolute knockout, bursting with a wild, savory perfume of dark black cherries, damp forest floor, iron, and cracked spice. On the palate, it’s concentrated, broad-shouldered, and packed with layers of crunchy dark fruit, all framed by vibrant acidity and serious, structured tannins that beg for food. The finish is long, flinty, and incredibly persistent. It's a gorgeous, old-school red that pairs beautifully with a thick, pan-seared duck breast or slow-roasted beef tenderloin.
