Domaine Etienne Pochon is a family estate in Crozes-Hermitage, based at the historic Château de Curson, a 16th-century property in the northern Rhône. The domaine was founded in 1964 by Etienne’s father, Édouard; today Etienne and his son Adrien run the show. Starting in 188, the estate shifted from selling fruit to the local co-op to crafting estate-bottled, quality-focused wines made from their certified-organic vineyards.
For the 2023 Crozes-Hermitage Rouge, production notes point to hand-harvested fruit, a short cold maceration, temperature-controlled fermentation with regular pump-overs, and élevage partly in large oak foudres and partly in tank; one source also notes vinification plot by plot to preserve terroir character. Tasting notes describe vibrant purple color, black fruits, blackberry, cherry, spice, gentle tannins, and a fresh, peppery finish—more supple and fragrant than heavy or extracted.
