While the region's elite bottles continue to command increasingly high prices, Gérard remains the essential acquisition for any serious collector; his wines are the missing piece for those who prize terroir-driven Syrah. Since taking over in 2013, he has become one of the most talked-about producers in the appellation, celebrated for his vibrant, high-toned precision and his ability to coax stunning purity from brutally steep, terraced slopes.

The crown jewel of his lineup is the "La Landonne" parcel, a legendary site resting in the heart of Côte-Rôtie. While Xavier’s neighbors like Guigal have made this vineyard world-famous, Gérard’s expression is a revelation of transparency and finesse that could easily put the "La Las" in the back seat. This is viticulture at its most arduous; farmed organically on craggy schist slopes that demand manual labor, the fruit from this tiny plot was historically blended away until 2013. Today, it stands alone as a profound glimpse into the prized, iron-rich soils of the Cote Brune.

To call this allocation "limited" is an understatement. Xavier produced only 612 bottles of the 2022 La Landonne for the entire world, and a mere ten six-packs made it to the United States. We are offering this tiny parcel exclusively to our VIP members on a first-come, first-served basis. Given the rapidly growing cult following and the sheer rarity of this vintage, we expect these few bottles to vanish immediately.

The 2022 La Landonne is a wine of staggering concentration, born from exceptionally low yields and a long, two-year elevage in neutral demi-muids. It is sweet and deeply concentrated, offering a chiseled profile of mineral-driven cassis and cherry-cola, sharpened by a spine of juicy acidity and exotic spices.
