2023 Marisa Cuomo, Furore Bianco "Fiorduva", Costa d'Amalfi DOC

Clinging precariously to the vertical, sun-drenched dolomitic cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, Cantine Marisa Cuomo practices a terrifyingly steep brand of "heroic viticulture" that yields one of the planet's most singular white wines. The 2023 Furore Bianco "Fiorduva" stands comfortably on a global pedestal alongside the world's greatest bottles. It possesses the heady, exotic floral aromatics of E. Guigal’s "La Doriane" Condrieu, the laser-focused mineral edge of Jermann’s "Vintage Tunina," and the rich, structurally impactful texture of a Meursault from Coche-Dury or Roulot. Yet, its dramatic, sea-lashed origin mirrors the wind-whipped, cliffside intensity of ancient, ungrafted Assyrtiko from Estate Argyros in Santorini. This is elite, world-class winemaking born from an extreme landscape.

The critical track record for this bottling is staggering, anchored by well over 20 Tre Bicchieri (Three Glasses) awards from Italy's own Gambero Rosso across its history. It is a legendary, collector-level performer that captures the magical, sun-soaked essence of the Amalfi Coast. When we tasted this 2023 bottling, it completely brought us to our knees in sheer amazement. This is exactly why we do what we do.

The magic lies in a hyper-localized field blend of ancient indigenous varieties—30% Fenile, 30% Ginestra, and 40% Ripoli—grapes found nowhere else on earth. These pre-phylloxera vines, averaging 60 to 80+ years old, are trained on traditional overhead pergola systems to shield the fruit from the blistering Mediterranean sun. Harvested entirely by hand out of physical necessity, the over-ripe grapes are fermented in French oak barriques. The 2023 vintage is an absolute knockout, pouring a brilliant golden-yellow and bursting with an alluring bouquet of ripe apricot, mango, candied ginger, and orange blossom. The palate is deeply enveloping and luxurious, balancing a rich texture against a driving core of vibrant volcanic acidity and an unending, mouthwatering trail of pure sea-spray salinity. Do not miss your chance to secure a few bottles of the Amalfi Coast's ultimate liquid masterpiece.

Molte Grazie!

Critical Acclaim:

Tre Bicchieri (3 Glasses) Gambero Rosso (2025 Edition)

  • "2023 yielded an exquisite Fiorduva. The nose unmistakably evokes its origins: lemon and citron, orange blossoms, rocks, and aromatic herbs. On the palate, it's enticing, radiant and harmonious, with a crescendo of fruity and menthol tones on the finish."

99 Points, Luca Gardini, Italian World Class Sommelier/Critic:

  • "An absolute masterpiece—an iconic wine crafted from Fenile, Ripoli, and Ginestra grapes. On the nose, it offers aromas of mango and apricot, with floral touches of broom and candied ginger. On the palate, it is enveloping and rich, featuring well-integrated acidity and an interminable finish with a long, saline trail.”

96 Points Ian D'Agata Wine Review

  • "From one of Italy’s prettiest seaside destinations, one of Italy’s prettiest white wines. Bright golden yellow. Nuances of honeyed peach, apricot and balsamic oils complicate the tangerine and orange aromas and flavours. Fresh ripe and zingy this is nicely full on the tactile peachy finish. Lots of wine here for the money. A blend of 40% Ripoli, 30% Fenile, and 30% Ginestra, Fiorduva is universally recognized as one of Italy’s ten-twenty best white wines.”

94 Points, Wine Advocate:

  • “This is one of my all-time favorite southern Italian wines, made with 40% Ripoli, 30% Fenile and 30% Ginestra and aged in French barrique. As someone who regularly vacations on the Amalfi Coast, the Marisa Cuomo 2023 Costa d'Amalfi Furore Bianco Fiorduva is the bottle that brings me back to vacation bliss (even if tasted in the heart of winter). I love the salinity and the carefree peachy fruit. This hot vintage is a little denser than past editions, but the wine still takes me back to beach umbrellas, crescent coves and epic grilled fish dinners. Production is 32,000 bottles. This wine always has a distinctive richness and silkiness. I love it.” - Monica Larner
