Jérôme Chezeaux runs a low-profile family domaine in Prémeaux-Prissey, just south of the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Côte de Nuits. His approach is classic and hands-off: low yields, destemming adjusted to the vintage, spontaneous fermentations with native yeasts, and aging in French oak with only a restrained share of new barrels.
The 2023 village Nuits-Saint-Georges draws on several organically farmed communal parcels. It shows the appellation's characteristic muscle, softened by the vintage's generous red fruit: dark sour cherry, black raspberry, crushed violet, damp forest floor and a gamey hint of leather, carried by fine-grained tannins and bright, refreshing acidity.
