The "San Lorenzo" single vineyard sits in Verduno, positioned just below the famous Monvigliero hill. Featuring ancient blue marl soils (Marne di Sant'Agata Fossili), San Lorenzo combines the delicate floral lift typical of Verduno with slightly more structural weight, darker berry focus, and chalky mineral grip than its neighboring sites.
The 2022 release spent 30 months in large neutral Slavonian oak casks, preserving its pure single-vineyard identity. The wine opens with vibrant notes of red sour cherry, pomegranates, dried herbs, orange rind, and crushed chalk. The palate is streamlined, elegant, and precise, framed by tightly coiled tannins and bright natural acidity.
Critical Acclaim:
96 Points, Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2022 Barolo San Lorenzo di Verduno pours a saturated yet bright red-orange color and displays a beautifully balanced profile. Aromas of cherry liqueur, suede, and delicate spice lead into a medium-bodied palate with a velvety texture and plush depth that fills the palate evenly. The wine delivers impressive refinement and harmony, and while it’s already quite attractive, it should continue to evolve gracefully over the coming years. Drink 2026-2040."
