2024 Grosset, Riesling “Springvale”, Clare Valley

The 'Grosset Effect' is in full swing: following the lightning-fast sell-out of the ‘Polish Hill’, we are thrilled to release its vibrant, high-energy sibling—the 2024 Grosset 'Springvale' Riesling. We deal in the finest Rieslings from Austria and Germany, but Grosset is the undisputed benchmark that consistently outperforms its peers. Jeffrey Grosset single-handedly dragged Australian Riesling into the modern era, and as James Halliday famously noted, he remains the "unchallenged master" of the craft—producing wines of such crystalline purity and structural perfection that they simply have no equal.

Holding a triple 95-point rating (Halliday, Suckling, and Wine Advocate), this bottle is a definitive study in Watervale terroir. While the Polish Hill is a brooding intellectual, the Springvale is the "open-armed charmer"—a radiant, high-energy expression that offers immediate, world-class pedigree with a more generous heart, but still can cellar well over a decade.

This is a crystalline departure from the honeyed weight of German Riesling. Born from the red loam and limestone "terra rossa" soils, the 2024 is a bone-dry masterpiece of pitch-perfect purity. It erupts from the glass with a concentrated spray of lime zest, wet slate, and white spring flowers. The palate is electric; a surge of mouth-watering citrus and green apple is supported by a sleek, waxy texture and a laser-like acid line. It finishes with a saline, flinty snap that leaves your palate tingling and desperate for another sip.

Built for the table, this is the ultimate partner for the zip of Asian cuisine or the delicate sweetness of fresh shellfish. As the pioneer who led the crusade for dry Australian Riesling, Grosset has crafted a wine where the intensity and "mouth-puckering" dryness act as a natural foil for salt and spice.

With less than 10 cases available and the "Grosset effect" in full swing, this is a "sell a kidney to buy more" proposition. Secure the benchmark of the Clare Valley before the "Sold Out" sign goes up again.

Cheers Mate !

Critical Acclaim:

James Suckling Wine Logo

95 Points, James Suckling:

“Very tightly wound, with complex aromas of lemon pith, flint, fresh herbs and crushed river stones. The palate is light- to medium-bodied with underlying power cut through with laser-like acidity, giving notes of grapefruit pith, lime zest and chalk. A wine that will age for many years. Exceptional. Drink or hold.”

Robert Parker Wine Advocate Logo

95 Points, Wine Advocate:

“The 2024 Springvale Riesling is lemony and tight in the mouth with layers of pith and pepper, citrus and grass. The phenolics are chalky and quite firm, and this stretches out the flavor over the finish. A superb wine, this is austere in its way but excellent nonetheless. It will take some time to open out; the fleshy fruit is there, but it's folded away for now. 12.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.”
