2022 Emiliano Falsini "Il Debbio" Cabernet Franc, Costa Toscana IGT
The 2022 Emiliano Falsini "Il Debbio" emerged as a standout surprise for its sheer drinkability, price-to-quality ratio, and pure enjoyment. As Cabernet Franc gains global momentum along the Tuscan coast, Bolgheri's gravel-and-clay slopes have quietly become one of the most compelling sweet spots for the variety outside the Loire Valley and Right Bank Bordeaux.
This is the passion project of master consulting oenologist Emiliano Falsini—the visionary who shaped iconic Mount Etna estates like Girolamo Russo and Alberto Graci. Crafted from 30-year-old vines in Castagneto Carducci, it shares prime terroir with neighbors like Ornellaia, Le Macchiole, Podere Sapaio, and Grattamacco. Fermented with 30% whole clusters and aged in porous cocciopesto terracotta amphorae alongside neutral French oak, Il Debbio bridges the broad-shouldered structure of Saint-Émilion with the graphite-laced freshness of Chinon.
The wine erupts with Bing cherry, blackcurrant, sweet pipe tobacco, cracked peppercorn, and dried Mediterranean herbs. Medium-to-full-bodied with fine, velvety tannins, balanced by a vibrant mineral streak and natural acidity that keeps the dark fruit lithe and energetic through a savory finish.
Molte Grazie!
