WHERE IT GROWS
Casa de Santar’s legendary vineyards lie at the heart of Portugal’s Dão, where granite soils and old vines—Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Roriz—thrive under cool Atlantic influence. The rugged terroir of the Vinha dos Amores plot is set among the largest continuous terrain in the region and produces grapes of remarkable structure and finesse.

WHO MADE IT
Thirteen generations of the Vasconcellos e Souza family have shaped Casa de Santar, each adding to its legacy. Today, under the careful watch of Pedro de Vasconcellos e Souza, the estate continues to balance its deep-rooted traditions with a quietly modern approach. The result: structured wines crafted with purpose, simultaneously timeless and polished.

HOW IT’S MADE
Hand-harvested grapes are fermented with minimal intervention in stainless steel for purity prior to being aged in French oak barriques for the right amount of spice, nuance and structure. Although the process is careful, it’s never fussy and it’s focused on showcasing the fruit’s natural vibrancy and minerality. The result is a sophisticated, expressive and modern approach to the classic winemaking traditions of the  Dão region.

WHAT IT TASTES LIKE
Aromas of dark berries, black cherry, and spice, with elegant floral notes and a mineral undertow. The palate confirms the nose with polished tannins and a long, fresh finish underscore its finesse. Simply put, a soulful wine packed with a ton of depth, vitality and flavor. It’s the perfect dinner table companion for roasted or grilled meats like herb-crusted lamb chops or a classic Portuguese-style roast pork with garlic and bay leaves.
