2020 Bramante Cosimi, Brunello di Montalcino

We first introduced this "back-road" Brunello to great fanfare last year, but a recent tasting proves that an extra year of bottle age was exactly what these 50-year-old vines needed. The 2020 Bramante Cosimi is now officially singing—a soulful, silk-and-sinew masterpiece that remains an elusive find anywhere else. Securing a 95-point Brunello from such a concentrated vintage is a rare opportunity in today’s market and a true throwback to classic valuations.

While Montalcino is often crowded with international investors, Rudy Cosimi is the real deal. His family’s roots began with his grandfather, a local tractor repairman, and his father, who planted these Sangiovese vines in 1975 when there were fewer than 30 producers in the entire appellation. Today, Rudy remains a humble figure who avoids the limelight, even as his sandy, fossil-rich terroir produces wines that rival the most prestigious names in the zone.

This special cuvée, named for Rudy's grandfather, matches the 95-point scores of elite neighbors like Il Potazzine and Le Ragnaie—bottles that typically command premium prices. James Suckling praised its "good substance for the long haul," and thanks to our direct relationship, you can secure this world-class structure without the typical triple-digit cost. It is an incredibly smart acquisition for any savvy collector looking for a hidden gem that is finally hitting its absolute prime.

Molte Graize!

95 Points, James Suckling:

"Brilliant Mediterranean profile to this Brunello. The nose is focused on helichrysum, vibrant cherries and blood oranges, restrained violets and roses. Very savory on the full-bodied palate with intense, grainy tannins and good sweetness on the finish with cleansing acidity. Lots of good substance for the long haul."
