1994 López de Heredia, "Viña Tondonia" Rioja Reserva (w/ original wire mesh wrapping)
López de Heredia, founded in 1877, remains Rioja’s most uncompromising traditionalist. The estate adheres to techniques largely unchanged for over a century, including long aging in large American oak barrels and extended bottle maturation well beyond legal requirements.
Viña Tondonia Reserva is aged far longer than most Gran Reservas from other producers, emphasizing evolution over fruit expression. The 1994 vintage delivered ideal structure and acidity, allowing the wine to develop its signature savory complexity: cedar, dried red fruit, earth, tobacco and subtle oxidative nuance.
A wine built for patience, nuance and intellectual depth.
