This is why we love Chablis, and this bottling says it all. We are thrilled to offer an exclusive US release of the 2024 Domaine Passy Le Clou Chablis 1er Cru "Beauroy". Sourced from 55-year-old vines in a single-hectare parcel atop the steep, sun-drenched slopes of Beauroy, this bottling is classic Burgundian winemaking in its purest form. Rooted in a winemaking tradition dating back to 1905 in Beaujolais, the Descombe family expanded north to Chablis in 2017 with Marine Descombe’s acquisition of Domaine Passy Le Clou. Right near the estate sits the prized Beauroy Cru—one of their premier holdings. Vinified in stainless steel with a subtle kiss of aging in older neutral barrels, these ancient, fossil-packed Kimmeridgian soil yield a Premier Cru of unrivaled tension, saline drive, and chalky minerality.
The 2024 growing season presented significant challenges across the region—with spring frosts and heavy rainfall reducing overall yields. Yet for traditionalists, these lower yields delivered a wonderful outcome: a true return to the classic, pre-global-warming Chablis profile. Defined by lower alcohol, razor-sharp focus, and intense marine energy, this scarce 2024 Premier Cru is already drinking with breathtaking precision right out of the gate, while holding the structural core to comfortably evolve over a decade in the cellar.
In the glass, the 2024 Beauroy leaps forward with brilliant, chiseled intensity, bursting with electric aromas of white acacia blossoms, hawthorn, and vibrant citrus zest. On entry, the mid-palate reveals a surprisingly supple, generous weight before being pulled tight by a striking spine of mouthwatering acidity—finishing long, crisp, and dripping in pure liquid chalk. It is a stunning showcase of Premier Cru elegance that no serious lover of classic white Burgundy should pass up.
Santé!
