2023 Domaine André Bonhomme, Viré-Clessé "Cuvée Spéciale"
The 2023 André Bonhomme, Vire‑Clessé “Cuvée Spéciale” is an organically farmed benchmark Chardonnay from one of the Mâconnais’s most respected families. Grown on clay‑and‑limestone soils in the communes of Viré and Clessé and vinified with a mix of stainless‑steel and oak that preserves both freshness and structure. Ripe, balanced and elegant: green apple, mango, citrus, a touch of honey and a lip smacking saline, mineral core.
The 2023 “Cuvée Spéciale” is drawn from multiple parcels averaging roughly 28 to 70 years of vine age throughout 3.5 hectares. Partially fermented and aged in stainless steel, while the rest sees a year in oak. Both components are blended together and aged a year larger barrels, giving the wine its rich texture and depth without overt 'oakiness'. A classic Viré‑Clessé: ripe, round, and exotic and anchored by bright acidity and minerality. Extremely pleasurable now and will age gracefully through 2032.
