Two years ago, when we offered Maison Saint Aix’s 2015 vintage in a 750ml format we stated: “For a party of five, prepare to open a minimum of three bottles.” Today, despite the increased bottle size, we are sticking by that statement—it’s that addicting!
There’s nothing quite better than crisp Provençal rosé that delivers a mineral rush quickly followed by a supple blend of bright, lip-smacking fruits. At this jaw-dropping price there aren’t many other purchases you can make that are as rewarding and high-impact as this. There’s no better way to make a grand entrance to a party, and if playing the role of host, you can sit back and smile as incoming guests marvel at these vinous giants. Perhaps the best news of all? We secured a small stockpile—enough for case purchases (equal to 24 standard bottles!)—because this wine is bound to fly out of our warehouse. We don’t offer magnums very often, but when we do, our goal is to maximize the “wow” factor. These should do the trick!

Perched at 400 meters above sea level in the rural terrain of Mont Sainte-Victoire, Maison Saint Aix’s Rosé enjoys a terroir that is simply inimitable. The striking vista that has inspired the likes of Cézanne, Picasso and Kandinsky has been home to the Maison Saint Aix winery for 130 years. Just an hour northeast of Aix-en-Provence and under an hour from the Mediterranean, this charmed spot enjoys over 300 sunny days a year, which are tempered by cool nights and the unique Mistral winds that keep the grapes dry as well as pest and disease free through the winter. These irreplicable elements coalesce to deliver a pitch-perfect rosé that greatly over-delivers for the price point.
If you were to visit the top restaurants scattered around the Mediterranean Coast over the next few months, this bottling would undoubtedly be gracing most of the wine lists. The perfect way to experience the world through rose-colored glasses, this blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 20% Cinsault is crafted with time-honored tradition coupled with modern technology by a house that focuses solely on producing the best rosé the market has to offer. Most of the juice is separated from the must using a gentle pneumatic press, but 30% briefly sits (eight hours) on their skins—saignée style. Fermentation and a few months of settling on its lees occurred in climate-controlled stainless steel tanks. The result is a wine that delivers every sensory component we all crave in Provence rosé for a price that has few equals.
This wine exhibits a blinding pale salmon core with light copper tones flitting out to a platinum rim. The energetic nose leaps from the glass with squeaky clean and pristine aromatics of tangerine zest, tart strawberry, white peach skin, watermelon with salt, cherry blossoms, white flowers, underripe raspberry, rose petal, a hint of white pepper, and wet stones; all of which is underpinned by a fine chalk minerality. The palate is comfortably medium bodied, with loads of texture and creaminess that intensify towards the finish. Sure, this wine will survive over the next 2-3 years, but why would you want it to? Pop and pour into all-purpose stems and serve to all your friends and family around 50 degrees. For a fun pairing, drink alongside various finger foods and make sure the attached pâté de campagne is included in the mix. Enjoy great rosé, beautiful weather, and the company good friends. Cheers!
