Giuseppe Nada is a family-owned winery located in Treiso, one of the four villages within the Barbaresco DOCG zone in Piedmont, Italy. The estate’s roots trace back to 1900, when Antonio Nada acquired a vineyard parcel in the Casot cru, purchased from a member of the Gaja family. The winery has since remained a small, artisanal operation, managed today by Giuseppe and Nella Nada alongside their children Barbara, who handles the business side, and Enrico, who oversees winemaking. The family's dedication to traditional methods is complemented by a modern commitment to sustainable organic viticulture, certified since 2017.
The Casot vineyard, situated on steep slopes with calcareous marl soils, is the flagship from which the estate crafts its Barbaresco. Vines range in age from 60 years old to more recent plantings, producing grapes that yield elegant, structured wines with heady aromatic complexity and serious aging potential. Enrico Nada, a formally trained enologist, has been pivotal in evolving the family’s winemaking, emphasizing spontaneous fermentation, low intervention, and aging in large old casks to retain the character of their unique terroir. The 2020 Casot vintage exemplifies this philosophy with fine tannins, vibrant acidity, and aromas of dark cherry, violets, spice, balsamic notes,  finesse and serious longevity.
Since the 1960s, the Nada family has combined respect for traditional Barbaresco winemaking with a progressive approach to the vineyard and cellar. In 1964, they began estate bottling, a prescient move just before Barbaresco received DOC status in 1966. They expanded the winery in 1968, installing technical upgrades while preserving a low-yield philosophy to ensure concentration and complexity in their wines. The estate’s modest vineyard holdings of approximately 9 hectares in Casot and the Marcarini cru collectively offer expressive, terroir-driven Barbarescos with longevity of up to 25-30 years.
