2021 Brovia, Barolo "Villero"

Our annual allocation of Brovia’s Cru Barolos has landed stateside—and for 2021, it's exceptional. Historically offered as curated multi-packs, this year’s expanded access means you can mix and match from three iconic crus and receive $30 off any combo of 3+ bottles, while supplies last:

  • Rocche di Castiglione and Villero—two benchmark crus from Castiglione Falletto

  • Ca’Mia—Brovia’s prized parcel within the Brea cru of Serralunga d’Alba

This trio offers a one-stop master class on terroir expression, particularly the nuanced beauty of Castiglione Falletto, where the Brovia family has been crafting resolutely traditional Barolo for over 150 years. These wines are aged in large oak casks (now mostly French, not Slavonian) and built for long, graceful evolution.

Despite producing wines in league with classicists like Mascarello, Conterno, and Giacosa, Brovia’s pricing remains accessible—a quiet gift to collectors. Over the last decade, their meticulous vineyard and cellar practices have resulted in critically acclaimed releases year after year.

The 2021 Barolo vintage is being hailed as one of the greatest in recent memory, with consistent quality across communes and a return to classical structure and finesse. This is a vintage serious Nebbiolo lovers should not miss—we recommend doubling up across all three vineyards.

  • This wine is beautifully complex, and it keeps going in the glass, unveiling new layers all the time.” - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

From old vines planted in 1961 at 340 meters in elevation, Villero delivers muscular structure with deep, earthy fruit. Compared to the elegance of Rocche, Villero leans into power—black and blue fruits, spice, and weight. A sprinter beside Rocche’s skater.
