Every time we pull a cork on a Domaine Race Chablis, we’re blown away by just how fresh, zippy, precise, and mineral-laden these wines are.

In fact, we have an inside, wine-geek joke around the tasting table that goes something like this: ‘Domaine Race should really consider changing their name to Domaine Racy!’ Ha! It never gets old!

But seriously, even in warmer vintages, which are becoming the norm in Chablis, the team at Domaine Race always delivers terroir-true excellence that is nonpareil.

Stainless steel is the name of the game in the cellar. Fourth-generation Family vigneron Claire Race says, “What we are after is something more natural. Barrels add something we believe a Chablis doesn’t need.” Their focus on transferring the pure, mineral terroir of their vineyards is the story.

The Mont de Milieu vineyard lies on Chablis’ right bank, right next to their the Grand Cru vineyard sites, featuring classic Kimmeridgian limestone soils. Loads of lemon peel, crisp apple, white pear, white flowers, wild honey. Pure oyster shell minerality and super bright, tingly acidity.

Lucky for us, Domain Race never got the memo to raise their prices like everyone else in Chablis. Somehow they continue to craft some of THE finest wines in the region but charge prices that would have been standard 10-20 years ago.

We’re huge fans of Domain Race and we jumped at the chance to be the first in the U.S to feature their 2023 Chablis "Mont de Millieu" 1er Cru.
