This wine is produced in the Bordeaux region of France, specifically in the southernmost area near Saint-Émilion on the Right Bank. The vineyard is situated at 100 meters altitude and spans approximately 55 hectares. The soils consist of sandy clay-limestone, calcareous soils, compacted marl which provide excellent drainage and influence the structured, mineral-driven character of the wines. It is planted mainly with Merlot (about 70%), Cabernet Franc (around 29%), and a small portion of Cabernet Sauvignon (about 1%).
Château Moulin De Ferrand Bordeaux Supérieur is owned and managed by the Boissonneau family, who have a long history in Bordeaux viticulture dating back to Pierre Boissonneau’s purchase of the estate in 1839. The family has transformed the estate into a top organic producer focused on quality and terroir expression.
This wine is made using carefully controlled traditional Bordeaux winemaking techniques. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted to ensure only top-quality fruit is used. Fermentation is conducted using natural yeasts and done on a plot-by-plot basis in cement vats to preserve the individuality of each parcel. The wine is aged for 14 to 18 months, primarily in stainless steel tanks with about 20% matured in French oak barrels.
This wine has a rich and expressive flavor profile characterized by bright ruby red color and aromas of ripe red fruits such as red currant and strawberry, complemented by spicy notes, toast, and subtle vanilla. On the palate, it offers a clean and fresh attack with layers of black pepper, soft round tannins, and fleshy texture. The wine finishes well balanced, rich, and long with a harmonious blend of fruit, spice, and nuanced oak that makes it approachable yet complex.
