Savoring cellar rarities can certainly take you back in time. It’s even better when the wine has been directly sourced from the winery and impeccably cellared.
The 1998 Château d´Arche, Sauternes checks those boxes. With 26 years of maturation from barrel to bottle, this dessert wine certainly over-delivers for the vintage. Often overlooked by its neighbor d’Yquem, Château d´Arche history dates back to the 17th Century and benefits from the same gravel-infused terroir that has made Château d’Yquem famous.
We tasted this bottling a few weeks ago and were floored by its balance and purity. It’s rich and generous on the palate with a streak of mouthwatering acidity that cuts through the cream. Opt in and marvel over the heady aromatics of mandarin liquor and apricot preserves followed by a palate of lemon curd, ripe peaches, pastry dough, and mushroom undertones. This is a textbook palate experience!
