This is your chance to secure a wine that helped define modern Priorat—crafted by Sara Pérez, one of Spain’s most visionary winemakers, and rooted in the slate-rich soils of Gratallops. It’s a wine of depth, elegance, and unmistakable terroir. A must for seekers of chiseled Spanish Blends, Northern Rhône Syrahs, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and Cru Red Burgundy!
The Revolution in a Bottle:
In 1981, Josep Lluís Pérez arrived in Priorat with a radical dream: to resurrect a forgotten region and prove its slate-covered hills could produce world-class wine. Clos Martinet was born, and with it, a movement that transformed Priorat into one of Spain’s two DOQ regions.
Today, his daughter Sara Pérez leads Mas Martinet with a commitment to organic farming, ancestral techniques, and terroir expression. The 2021 Clos Martinet is fermented and aged in cement, clay, foudres, and French oak—an artisanal approach refined over four decades.
Expect aromas of ripe cherry, sweet spice, dark chocolate, sour cherry, cinnamon, dried flowers, and balsamic notes. The palate is powerful yet refined, with roasted tones, fleshy texture, and a mineral backbone that speaks to the llicorella slate.
Luis Gutiérrez of Wine Advocate calls it “amazing, very different, perfumed, elegant and nuanced… one of the great Priorat reds.”
