Barolo loyalists—time to pounce on a rare tandem cru library release from legendary traditionalist Francesco Rinaldi. We’ve secured perfectly cellared 2013 bottlings of their elite “Brunate” and “Cannubi” holdings—two iconic vineyard sites from an outstanding vintage known for its structure and slow evolution. Direct from Rinaldi’s cellars, they’ve done the aging for you. Now is the perfect moment to experience these Nebbiolo masterpieces.
Historic pedigree: In 1870, Giovanni Rinaldi inherited vineyards in Barolo and walked there from his native Diano d’Alba to found the estate. The family began bottling under their name in 1906. Today, nieces Piera and Paola Rinaldi carry forward that legacy, upholding the traditional methods of their grandfather and uncle Luciano, with thoughtful improvements in both vineyard and cellar. These 2013s—described by Antonio Galloni as “classically built”—showcase their continued excellence.
This is a masterclass in Cru Barolo. We recommend buying both to experience the nuances of these singular sites. Brunate is brooding and structured, with austere elegance. After nearly a decade in bottle, the tannins have beautifully integrated with the Slavonian oak. Cannubi is its counterpart in finesse—heady aromatics, silky texture—an hour of air brings it into full bloom.
The bottles are in mint condition: pristine labels, perfect fills—provenance doesn’t get better. We highly recommend purchasing four or more bottles (mixed or matched) to receive 10% off. While a few listings out there come from secondary sources, ours are direct from the estate.
95 Points, Vnous Media:
" ... deep and powerful, both of which bode very well for the future, but make the wine forbidding in the early going. Firm tannins enshroud a core of expressive fruit in a Barolo that is going to need time to fully emerge. The estate's three 2013 Barolos are terrific. Fans of classically built Barolos will want to take note of the 2013s." - Antonio Galloni
