A vibrant Gamay from California’s central coast, with expressive aromas of ripe cherry, cherry blossom, and raspberry. The palate bursts with ripe, juicy red fruit and lively acidity.
Where It Grows: Alisos Canyon AVA is one of California’s newest and most exciting wine regions. Officially established as an American Viticultural Area in September 2020, terroir here is defined by its unique geology and climate: (i) complex soils of weathered sandstone and shale, with streaks of rare limestone and flint and (ii) heavy influence from the Pacific Ocean, only 20 miles away. The region is situated in what’s called the “Goldilocks Rhone Zone,” with conditions that are neither too hot nor too cold, making it an ideal growing location for Rhône and select Burgundian varieties like Gamay.
Who Made It: With a focus on limited production and quality-first values, Jake and Maggie Coin are the passionate duo behind Copper Six Winery and bring a fresh, hands-on approach to every aspect of production, from vineyard sourcing to bottling, with the aim of letting the true character of each vintage and site shine through. Their philosophy is rooted in authenticity and adaptability to reflect the nuances of each
season and vineyard.
What It Tastes Like: Vibrant aromatics of mountain raspberries, rosehips, crushed granite minerality and a pinch of herbs. The palate is fresh and lively, with juicy and ripe red fruit flavors, black cherry, violets, earthy complexity and a Chai and white pepper spice. Balanced with bright acidity, this wine is perfect for warm weather sipping (serve slightly chilled) yet complex enough to be a versatile companion on the dinner table.
