Robert Craig’s mantra is high-elevation Napa Cabernet, and this bottling is no exception. Though labeled “Spring Mountain District,” it’s sourced 100% from Crowley Vineyard, one of Napa’s highest elevation sites at 2,000 feet, biodynamically farmed, and rooted in rocky volcanic soils—a formula that typically commands $150–$175 per bottle for a mountain appellation bottling.
Vinous Media’s Antonio Galloni called it “suave, silky and super-polished” back in Fall 2018. We tasted it again recently, and the polish is still there—integrated tannins, cassis, black and blue fruit, menthol, sweet tobacco, and a savory umami core. Not all mountain Cabs hold up after 5 to 7+ years. This one? It’s just hitting its stride.
Drink now or cellar for another 5+ years. Whether Napa Cab is your go-to or not, this is a perfect gift, a dinner party showstopper, and a rare cellar addition. Cheers and taste well!

“"The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (Spring Mountain) is suave, silky and super-polished. Sweet red cherry, blood orange, mint, pomegranate and wild flowers give the 2016 a distinctly exotic quality that is hugely appealing. Medium in body and decidedly gracious, the 2016 speaks to finesse above all else. Although a few years in bottle will only help, the Spring Mountain is the most accessible of these 2016s." - Antonio Galloni, November 2018
