What's inside:

2022 Monemvasia, "300" Lakonia White- Kydonitsa is an obscure grape is basically only found in Laconia on the island of Monemvasia, just off the coast of Southern Peloponnese. Chill it down and you’ll be rewarded with snappy green apples, quince, yellow grapefruit, lemon peel, white blossoms, and wild sage all wrapped around a core of sea salt laden minerality. Though clearly in the crisp, bright white wine camp, the Kydonitsa adds just enough texture and body to make this a versatile food pairing.

2022 Talley Vineyards, San Luis Obispo Coast, Estate ChardonnayThis wine is born from the picturesque San Luis Obispo Coast, where Talley Vineyards' estate vineyards thrive under the cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean. It offers a bouquet of citrus zest, orange blossom, and fresh bread, followed by flavors of lemon curd, marcona almonds, and dried pineapple. Its bright acidity and creamy texture make it both refreshing and sophisticated. Serve it chilled with grilled salmon or scallops, and lighter meats such as roasted chicken or pork.

2020 Domaine de la Madone, Beaujolais Villages "Le Perréon - Bio"- If you want a red light enough to enjoy in the summer heat but serious enough to stand up to the flavors of your burgers and brats, Beaujolais should be near the top of your list. This “basic” Beaujolais has all the silky fruit, granitic minerality, and floral fun of a top tier Fleurie, but from an overlooked terroir outside the “Cru” designation. Give it a quick decant and and you’ll be treated to a rush of wild raspberries, black currants, cherry blossoms, dried rose petals, black tea, damp earth, and tell-tale granitic minerality.

2021 Ronc dal Diaul, SchioppettinoSchioppettino was grown in a very prescribed geographic area—a few hamlets around the Friulian city of Cividale. It produces very distinctly aromatic, spicy reds with great structure, and this modern expression from Cividale gets it exactly right. It opens with aromas of blackberry and boysenberry, mixing with scents of lavender, violet, tar, turned earth, and a distinctive cracked pepper note that calls Northern Rhône Syrah to mind.

2021 Mas de Boislauzon, Côtes du Rhône Villages- Rich and powerful, with a relatively dark, brackish cast to the color thanks to the Syrah component. There’s lots of black and purple fruit on the nose, but there’s also a pleasingly rustic, slightly herbal note that calls to mind old-school Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Notes of black raspberry, cherry kirsch, dried strawberry, violets, licorice, warm spices, wild herbs, and dusty earth linger on the medium-plus-bodied palate, culminating in a long, aromatic, sweet/savory finish. This is begging for some chargrilled red meat.

2021 Nanclares y Prieto, "A Senda Vermella"- While mostly known for brisk, minerally whites, small amounts of red wine are in the Rías Baixas too. A blend of native varietals Mencía, Caiño, and Espadeiro, this beautiful, mysterious bottle of red is perfectly balanced by red fruits–strawberry, red currant, cranberry–and savory notes of rosewater, blood orange, pink peppercorn, and clove. Throw in the classic Val do Salnes salinity and granitic minerality and you have magical wine with loads of flavor and complexity, and a light, low-alcohol freshness.
