2021 Fratelli Alessandria, Barolo "Gramolere", Monforte d'Alba

Every year around this time, we get amped to offer our limited allocation of Fratelli Alessandria’s 2021 Barolo crus and village blend. Once a hidden gem, Alessandria is now firmly on allocation—driven by soaring demand and critical acclaim, especially for the Monvigliero di Verduno, which rivals G.B. Burlotto’s $350+ bottling.

Fratelli Alessandria continues to raise the bar. Once dubbed “one of Piedmont’s under-the-radar jewels” by Antonio Galloni, the estate now sits among the elite producers of Verduno. Their wines lean more toward hedonistic Cru Chambolle-Musigny Burgundy than the iron-fisted Barolo stereotype—perfumed, elegant, and deeply expressive.

Why These Wines Belong in Your Cellar:

  • Historic estate dating back to 1830

  • Single-vineyard pedigree from Barolo’s top terroirs

  • The 2021 vintage is praised for its balance and aging potential.

  • Exceptional value compared to cult bottlings like Burlotto.

  • Power & Structure

  • Dark fruit, tobacco, and firm tannins from Monforte’s rugged slopes.

  • Built for aging—decant now or cellar for 20+ years.

  • “ … velvety tannins, refreshing, balanced acidity, and an exceptional finish with darker mineral accents. I have to say, this might be my favorite from this producer in this vintage, and I would love to have several bottles stashed away to check in over the years. Bravo. - Jeb Dunnuck
